In response to Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement of a new short-term "ceasefire", UN representatives emphasized their desire to see an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine based on international law and the UN charter.

Direct quote from Dujarric: "Our position remains unchanged: we want to see an end to the war… It must be principled and consistent, firmly based on the UN charter, international law, and all relevant resolutions".

Dujarric highlighted that peace should be sustainable and involve the recognition of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also stated that the UN appreciates any efforts to resolve the war in Ukraine that align with "the position I have expressed many, many, many, many times".

When asked about the participation of North Korean troops in Russia's war against Ukraine, acknowledged by both Russia and North Korea, the spokesman succinctly replied: "I think any internationalization of a conflict is the wrong direction".
