A meeting of the Senior Supervisory Board of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Center, known as JATEC, took place in Kyiv.

According to "European Truth", this was reported by the Ministry of Defense on April 26.

Present at the meeting were the chairman of the board and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations Tom Goffus, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Boyev, Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Brigadier General Oleg Apostol, JATEC commander Brigadier General Wojciech Ozga, and representatives from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and NATO.

The board members noted that holding such a meeting with the participation of NATO representatives, Polish Armed Forces, and other high-ranking officials in Kyiv sends a strong signal of the Alliance's unity with Ukraine.

"The primary goal of all projects is to achieve a just peace and sustainable security for Ukraine. Both Ukraine and NATO are interested in the development of JATEC. The results of the joint center's work will benefit both parties," emphasized Serhiy Boyev.

During the meeting, strategic issues regarding JATEC's operations and the implementation of previous organizational tasks were discussed. Particular attention was given to the involvement of partners in the NATO-Ukraine Joint Center’s work, enhancing information system resilience, support for education and training, interoperability, and cooperation in addressing battlefield challenges.

Additionally, Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleg Apostol highlighted the importance of joint efforts in developing countermeasures against hostile FPV drones, which will be the focus of the next NATO Innovation Challenge. Following the previous hackathon, where teams proposed countermeasures to enemy UAVs, testing and evaluation of the proposals are underway in combat conditions.

"Ukraine and NATO are growing closer to enhance cooperation and joint efforts in several areas, including resilience, civilian protection, and new technologies. Our work within JATEC demonstrates the shared commitment of both the Alliance and Ukraine to swiftly and collaboratively fulfill the set tasks," noted Tom Goffus.

In conclusion, the Senior Supervisory Board of JATEC established clear criteria for achieving full operational capability of the Center and outlined work plans for 2025-2026.

JATEC, as a joint initiative between Ukraine and NATO, aims to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine in their pursuit of full interoperability with NATO forces and facilitate experience sharing between the two sides.

The commander of the Center is Polish General Wojciech Ozga.

JATEC achieved initial operational capability in January 2025 and aims to fully develop it by the end of this year.
