Rescue teams from the State Emergency Service (SES) successfully evacuated workers from two mines in Kryvyi Rih, who were trapped underground due to power outages caused by Russian shelling. According to the SES press service, one mine lost power on January 22 due to a drone attack, leaving miners stuck at depths of -1135 m, -865 m, and -475 m.
"Accompanied by specialists from the DVGROZ SES, the miners traversed nearly 7 kilometers of underground tunnels. The rescue operation lasted 6 hours," the statement said.
After midnight, another mine was also halted due to another power outage, with 92 workers inside.
"The rescue teams operated according to a proven scheme: miners were hoisted to the surface using the counterweight principle of the mine cage. They completed the task in 4 hours," the statement added.
All miners were successfully brought to the surface.
