AirNet's Innovative Drone Netting System

AirNet has unveiled a cutting-edge netting system for drones that automatically detects and neutralizes hostile UAVs.

The Ukrainian company AirNet has developed a new netting system for drones, equipped with an integrated radar. This technology can detect hostile UAVs and automatically neutralize them with a net.

This innovation was announced at the Brave1 Components exhibition, according to "Militarny".

The net system weighs 780 grams and can be mounted on various platforms. It activates automatically; simply connect the power and elevate the drone above 5 meters.

The radar can determine the three-dimensional coordinates of moving objects within a designated sector — distance, azimuth, and altitude.

When the drone with the AirNet system approaches a foreign UAV within 0.1 to 6 meters, the system locks onto the target. AirNet sends a command to ignite the pyrotechnic cartridge — a micro-explosive device.

This triggers a shot of the net at a distance of 5-10 meters.

"The cost of a single net shot is approximately 50 dollars, but it can disable any propeller-driven drone, including large UAV models," the company stated.
The AirNet system is controlled from the drone's remote, on which it is installed. The captured drone remains suspended in the net beneath the interceptor, allowing the operator to transport it to a safe location.

The strength of the net allows for towing loads up to 20 kg. If the captured drone is too heavy or poses a threat, the operator can remotely release it — along with the net.

After completing the mission, the operator can quickly swap out the cartridge with a new net and pyrotechnic device.

Previously, it was reported that Brave1 is launching a grant program for domestic weapons component manufacturers, enabling developers to secure up to 8 million UAH to accelerate R&D and enhance the technological readiness of their innovations.
