On October 23, Ukraine received 1000 remains as part of repatriation efforts, which, according to Russian sources, belong to Ukrainian soldiers. This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Investigators and experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs will soon conduct all necessary examinations to identify the repatriated remains.
The repatriation was coordinated by the Headquarters, the Joint Center at the Security Service, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other structures from the security and defense sector.
Additionally, the Headquarters expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their assistance.
The Armed Forces are responsible for transporting the repatriated remains to state specialized institutions and organizing the transfer of the deceased to law enforcement and forensic medical experts within the healthcare system.
