Due to the actions of Russian troops, the power supply lines of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant were damaged during its capture in Enerhodar. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported this during a press briefing.
"We are receiving numerous inquiries from international leaders regarding the situation at ZNPP. There is concern about the potential for an explosion, as the plant has been reliant on diesel power for an extended period without electricity," he stated.
Zelensky emphasized that the lines were severed on both sides: from the Ukrainian-controlled territory and the occupied area. "This was done by Russian forces during the plant's capture," he added.
Additionally, the president noted that Ukrainian repair teams have repeatedly attempted to restore power supply, but have faced attacks from Russian troops, resulting in casualties.

It is worth noting that on September 23 at 16:56, the only power line supplying ZNPP from the Ukrainian grid was disconnected. This marks the tenth blackout since the plant's occupation.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the Russians are seeking support from the IAEA in their attempts to take control of the plant.
The IAEA has confirmed the danger posed by the situation at ZNPP, as the plant has been without its main power source for ten days due to the actions of the occupiers.
Russia disconnected ZNPP from the Ukrainian energy grid under the pretext of "testing" and is preparing to reconnect it to its own energy system.
