The air defense forces successfully intercepted 154 out of 183 drones used by Russian forces to attack Ukraine on the evening of October 7. The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported this on their Telegram channel.
Starting at 18:30 on October 7, the Russians launched an attack with 183 strike drones of the Shahed type, "Herber" and other types from various locations, including Millerovo, Kursk, Bryansk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), as well as from Gvardeyskoye and Chauda (temporarily occupied Crimea). Approximately 100 of these were Shahed drones.
The attack was countered by aviation, surface-to-air missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian defense forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 09:00 on October 8, the air defense had shot down or suppressed 154 drones across northern, southern, eastern, and central Ukraine.
There were confirmed hits of 22 strike drones at 11 locations. The attack is ongoing, and several enemy drones remain in the air, as warned by the Air Forces.
Russian invaders also targeted one of DTEK's thermal power plants, injuring two energy workers.
