A new Veterans Development Center has been inaugurated in Kyiv as part of a nationwide initiative to establish a network of such centers within higher education institutions. This was announced by the Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv City State Administration.
The primary goal of the center is to assist veterans through educational opportunities, psychological adaptation, and professional growth. Family members of veterans can access services that include consultations on starting a family business, obtaining grants, and more. The center is inspired by the experiences of Student Veteran Centers in the United States.
«This is more than just another educational initiative. We are committed to supporting our defenders in their new lives. The experience we gained from our American colleagues during our working visit in August shows that such centers become crucial support points for veterans, helping them find their path in civilian life through education, psychological support, and professional development. Our center is about restoring faith in one’s abilities and building a future in Ukraine,» said Anna Shchutska, director of the Kyiv College of Applied Sciences.
The college has already developed short-term course programs for the Veterans Development Center. Among them are graphic design, web design, microbusiness, Ukrainian sign language, e-commerce, and other relevant fields.
This project has been realized with the support of the charitable organization «MHP-Community Fund» and the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine.
The Veterans Development Center will serve as a platform for learning, personal growth, and successful integration of veterans into society, helping them build a new life in a peaceful environment. Additionally, it creates equal conditions and free access to education for veterans, ensuring educational accessibility.
