On September 14-15, Nizhyn experienced the most intense air strike from the Russian Federation since the beginning of the war. The air alarm lasted for over 16 hours, with hits recorded on key infrastructure.
This was reported by Nizhyn's mayor, Oleksandr Kodola, in a video address.
"Yesterday, our city endured the most significant air attack by the enemy since the war began. The continuous air alarm lasted for more than 16 hours. Dozens of enemy drones targeted our community. Unfortunately, several critical infrastructure facilities were hit. One enterprise suffered a double strike, leading to temporary power and water outages in various parts of our city," said Mayor Oleksandr Kodola.
According to the mayor, during the day on Sunday, one drone and its fragments fell directly in the city center, and later the enemy attacked a private oil depot, resulting in a large fire. Over 20 firefighting units were deployed. After the fire was extinguished, the enemy launched a second strike, injuring three rescuers with shrapnel wounds. They are currently receiving treatment at the Nizhyn city hospital.
