Update on the Air Assault on Ukraine

Latest information on the air assault on Ukraine, including destroyed drones and missiles.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the destruction of 546 enemy drones, one Kinzhal air-launched missile, 18 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 12 Kalibr cruise missiles.

This information was released by the Ukrainian Air Force via Telegram.

Starting from 18:40 on Wednesday, August 20, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine with 614 aerial assault assets:

574 Shahed-type strike drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles from directions: Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Oryol, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (RF), and also Hvardyske (temporarily occupied Crimea);

four Kinzhal air-launched missiles from the airspace of Lipetsk and Voronezh regions;

two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Voronezh region;

19 Kh-101 cruise missiles from the airspace of Saratov region;

14 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea area;

one missile of an unspecified type from Crimea.

The air assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian defense forces.

As of 09:00 on Thursday, August 21, air defense has shot down/suppressed 577 aerial targets:

  • 546 drones;
  • one Kinzhal air-launched missile;
  • 18 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
  • 12 Kalibr cruise missiles.

Impacts of missiles and strike drones were recorded at 11 locations, with debris falling at three locations.
