Overnight, Russian military forces attacked a penal institution in the Zaporizhia region.

This was reported by Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhia regional military administration, via Telegram.

“During the night, the enemy launched an assault on a penal institution in the area. Unfortunately, there are fatalities and injuries,” he noted.

Fedorov specified that the shelling destroyed parts of the facility, damaging also nearby private homes.

Later, he added that during the night, the enemy shelled the Zaporizhia district eight times, primarily with FABs. The correctional colony was also hit. A total of 16 people were killed, and 35 were injured.

All necessary medical assistance is being provided to the victims.

As a reminder, throughout the day, the occupiers launched 672 strikes on 14 settlements in the Zaporizhia region. An 81-year-old woman was injured due to enemy shelling in the Polohy district.
