On the night of July 12, numerous gunshots were reported at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

This was reported by Rafael Mariano Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

He stated that the significant volume of gunfire, which lasted for about an hour starting at 10 PM local time, was alarming.

During a site visit on the morning of July 13, the IAEA team found numerous small-caliber shells scattered near reactor units 5 and 6, but no signs of broken windows or other physical damage were observed.

“Such military activity at or near a large nuclear facility is clearly unacceptable,” Grossi emphasized.

He expressed deep concern over the evident increase in drone usage around nuclear facilities since the beginning of this year, stating that such weapons pose a clear threat to nuclear safety.

“As I have repeatedly stated, any military attack on a nuclear facility—whether involving drones or not—jeopardizes nuclear safety and must cease immediately,” Grossi added.
