Since early June, nearly 900 individuals have been evacuated from the Sumy region, including 137 children. The evacuation process is ongoing in 213 populated areas of border communities.
"Since the beginning of June, we have evacuated almost 900 people, among them 137 children. In the last 24 hours, 21 individuals have been moved to safer territories," said Oleksandr Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional State Administration.
He stated that 213 populated areas in 18 border communities are subject to planned evacuation.
"The evacuation is carried out in close coordination with local communities, SES, police, volunteers, and international partners. Humanitarian hubs and transit centers are operational to provide immediate assistance to those fleeing dangerous areas," he explained.
The head of the OVA also noted that the region is enhancing its defense capabilities: anti-drone systems are being deployed, mobile fire groups are being established, and businesses and the public are joining in support of the Armed Forces.
