On May 21, Russian forces launched a series of strikes on Kupiansk and the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi in the Kharkiv region, employing guided bombs and multiple launch rocket systems. As a result of the shelling, one person was killed and seven others were injured.

It was reported that in the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, the occupiers struck a three-story residential building, leading to the complete destruction of one entrance and damage to neighboring apartment buildings and private homes.
According to the State Emergency Service, one person died and four others were injured.
In the city of Kupiansk, strikes were also recorded. Fires broke out in a residential building, utility structure, garage, and firewood storage. At least three women aged 72, 69, and 55 were among the injured.
Three emergency service units and a medical team were involved in responding to the aftermath of the attacks. Rescuers worked under the threat of further strikes. Investigators and forensic experts from the police are also on-site documenting the aftermath of the attack.
