Microsoft has announced the integration of the latest GPT-5 model from OpenAI into its Copilot assistant, utilized across Microsoft 365, GitHub, Azure AI Foundry, and mobile apps. This update is now available to users.

Copilot has introduced a Smart Mode that automatically selects the optimal model based on the complexity of the query. This feature balances response speed and depth of information processing.

In Microsoft 365, Copilot has improved context understanding, the ability to maintain extended conversations, and response accuracy. GitHub Copilot with GPT-5 is accessible via chatbot, VS Code, and mobile apps for paid users, while organizations can apply specific policy settings.

In Azure AI Foundry, the new model is available through an API with automatic setting selection, supporting multimodal scenarios and extensive context. Regular Copilot users can access GPT-5 for free.
