SpaceX has clarified that the recent significant outage in Starlink services was caused by software updates. According to the company, the network was overloaded during the update process on ground computing clusters, leading to failures in core services. This information is reported by PCMag.

The disruptions began on July 24 around 10 PM Kyiv time and affected users globally, including Ukrainian military personnel. During peak hours, Starlink serves over 6 million customers worldwide. Most users managed to regain access to the network within 2.5 hours, but some subscribers reported ongoing connection issues the following day. This marked the longest outage for Starlink since its launch.

After the restoration, some users noticed improved connection speeds—reaching 250 Mbps and above, whereas previous averages were 110–150 Mbps. This led to speculation that the updates aimed to enhance network performance.

However, other users continue to report issues with speed and stability. The Starlink support page currently suggests rebooting the equipment, including third-party devices.
