Meta is developing several new computing clusters, each with a capacity of 1 gigawatt. The first of these, named Prometheus, is set to launch in 2026. Another cluster, Hyperion, will have the capability to scale up to 5 GW in the coming years. According to Mark Zuckerberg, one of these clusters will occupy an area comparable to Manhattan.

In his statement, Zuckerberg emphasized that Meta plans to invest "hundreds of billions of dollars in computing resources" to create superintelligence. He also noted that the company has sufficient capital to execute these plans independently, without external funding.

Zuckerberg referenced an analysis by SemiAnalysis, which indicates that Meta is ahead of its competitors and could be the first company to launch a cluster with over 1 GW capacity. The company is even constructing clusters in specialized tents to expedite the deployment of computing infrastructure. This is part of the shift from "AI incrementalism" to full-scale races for AGI (Artificial General Intelligence).

Meta is also assembling the "most elite" team of developers: the company has already recruited leading experts from OpenAI and Apple, invested in Scale AI, and its CEO, Alexander Wang, is leading the developer team.
