Hexagon has unveiled its latest industrial robot, AEON, created in partnership with NVIDIA. This robot aims to streamline technical and physical processes in manufacturing, logistics, aviation, and transportation.

AEON was trained within the NVIDIA Isaac Sim virtual environment, enabling it to acquire fundamental movement and manipulation skills in a matter of weeks, far quicker than traditional training methods that can take months. In practical settings, AEON operates on a Jetson Orin computer and will be updated to IGX Thor to ensure safe collaboration with humans.

Additionally, AEON integrates with the Hexagon Reality Cloud Studio. This allows the robot to autonomously scan spaces and objects, creating digital replicas for further analysis within the NVIDIA Omniverse. This approach facilitates the creation of highly accurate digital twins without the need for local infrastructure.

In the future, AEON will be capable of performing precise manipulations, inspecting components for compliance, controlling equipment, and engaging in teleoperation. Hexagon also intends to leverage generative models like NVIDIA Isaac GR00T to expand the robot’s skills based on simulations and human examples.

The initial tests of AEON are already being prepared at highly automated enterprises.
