On June 16, Microsoft announced that the data of its European clients will be stored within Europe, adhering to European legislation, under the operational oversight of local personnel, and with full user control, as reported by Reuters.

According to the publication, European companies and governments are increasingly concerned about the potential transfer of their data outside the continent, particularly to the U.S., prompting American firms like Microsoft to implement new protective measures.

In April, Microsoft had already unveiled plans to safeguard user data as part of its expansion of cloud and AI infrastructure in Europe. These plans included compliance with European laws intended to restrict the influence of large tech companies.

On June 16, the company stated that any remote access by Microsoft engineers to systems storing and processing European data would only occur with the permission and oversight of staff located in the EU, in real time.

Additionally, Microsoft noted that their sovereign private cloud is currently in a limited access mode, with a full launch for all users expected later this year.
