OpenAI is planning to aid in the establishment of a new robust data center in the United Arab Emirates, which may eventually rank among the largest globally, highlighting the company's expansive ambitions in AI infrastructure.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

The creator of ChatGPT is expected to be a major investor in the recently announced 5-gigawatt data center campus in Abu Dhabi. OpenAI's involvement is not yet finalized, but an official announcement may come soon.

American tech giant Oracle Corp. is also involved in the project and will assist in developing at least part of the first phase of the Abu Dhabi campus.

Upon completion, this extensive facility will cover 10 square miles and use roughly the same amount of energy as five nuclear reactors.

Not all 5 gigawatts will be allocated to OpenAI; rather, they will be distributed among several companies.

MGX, an investment firm in Abu Dhabi, is also considering participating in the data center project alongside OpenAI and G42. Other American partners may also join the initiative.
