Google has rolled out an updated Enhanced Protection feature in its Chrome browser. The latest version for PC introduces the Gemini Nano language model, designed to identify new forms of fraud, such as counterfeit tech support. According to the company, this model operates directly on the user's computer and can detect threats that previously went unnoticed. This was reported by Engadget.

Google claims that Gemini Nano effectively identifies complex websites, allowing for quick responses to emerging fraud schemes. The company plans to extend this technology to Android devices and eventually use it to combat other types of online threats.

Android users will also benefit from improved protection against fraudulent notifications in Chrome. To achieve this, Google utilizes machine learning that works directly on the phone. If the system detects a suspicious notification, Chrome will display a warning and offer the option to either review it or unsubscribe. If the block turns out to be a mistake, users can allow notifications from that site in the future.

Combating fraud remains a top priority for Google. For instance, last May, the company showcased a new feature that alerts users in real-time about fraud during phone calls. Recently, the "Messages" app was also updated with new protective features. According to Google, these measures help stop hundreds of millions of fraudulent attempts before they reach users.
