Today, May 1, the fourth round match of the Division IA World Championship 2025 took place between the teams of Ukraine and Poland.
Before the match, both teams had six points, making this a direct contest for second place in the group.
The first period ended without any goals scored. This changed at the start of the second period when Alan Lushcharchik scored during a power play.
Fortunately, subsequent goals were only scored against the Polish team. During the second period, Viktor Zakharov equalized the score, and four minutes into the third period, he completed a double.
Later, the names of Stanislav Sadovikov and Danil Tracht appeared on the scoreboard, leading Ukraine to a convincing victory with a score of 4:1.

With this victory, Ukraine caught up with the Division IA leader, Great Britain, as both teams now have nine points with one round to go. Earlier, the British defeated Italy, winning their fourth match of the tournament.
In their final game, the "blue and yellows" will face Japan. The result of this match will determine the future of the Ukrainian team: a win will guarantee them a spot in the elite division of the world championship. This game will take place on Saturday, May 3.
It is worth noting that the last time the Ukrainian national hockey team competed in the elite division was back in 2007, when the world championship was held in Moscow.
