At the Grand Prix Brno held in the Czech Republic, Ukrainian swimmers showcased exceptional talent, securing a total of eight medals. This news was reported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
All medals were earned by three athletes: Vadym Naumenko, Heorhiy Lukashev, and Maksym Ovchynnikov.
Vadym Naumenko stood out by winning gold in the 100 and 200 meters individual medley, along with a silver in the 200 meters freestyle. Heorhiy Lukashev also made headlines by clinching gold in the 400 meters individual medley.
Medals won by Ukrainian swimmers at the Grand Prix Brno-2025:
- Gold: Vadym Naumenko (100 m individual medley); Vadym Naumenko (200 m individual medley); Heorhiy Lukashev (400 m individual medley);
- Silver: Heorhiy Lukashev (200 m butterfly); Vadym Naumenko (200 m freestyle);
- Bronze: Maksym Ovchynnikov (200 m individual medley); Maksym Ovchynnikov (100 m breaststroke); Maksym Ovchynnikov (50 m breaststroke).
It is also noteworthy that World Aquatics has permitted Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in international events under a neutral status.
Additionally, we remember the recent passing of 101-year-old world champion and record holder from Ukraine, Heorhiy Chyzhensky.
