The Ukrainian chess teams, both men's and women's, have officially started their journey at the 2025 European Championship. The information is provided by the press service of the Ukrainian Chess Federation.
In the first round, the men's team faced Georgia-2. This country is hosting the tournament, which is taking place in Batumi.
Victories by players Kovalенко and Samunenko turned the tide of the match, leading to an overall triumph as Andriy Volokitin drew his game, while Anton Korobov surprisingly lost to the leader of the second Georgian team, Giza Kuparadze.
The Ukrainian women's team drew against the Austrians. The "Blue and Yellows" were close to victory, but 16-year-old debutant Bozhena Piddubna lost to Emilia Dyak-Sala.
