The Kyiv wrestler earned silver in the 97 kg category

The European Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling for under-20 athletes is currently taking place in Caorle, Italy. Representing Ukraine, the athlete from Kyiv made a notable impression.

Yegor Yakushenko from Kyiv finished second in the 97 kg weight category. He competed in four matches, winning each of them. In his first bout, he defeated Danish wrestler Willas Kristensen with a score of 9:0, followed by victories over Pavlo Savitsky (8:0) and Saipula Gadzhimagomedov (10:2). Unfortunately, in the final, Yegor faced German Darius Kefer and lost. Thus, he earned a silver medal at the championship. It’s worth noting that they had previously met in the finals of the World Championship in autumn 2024, where Yegor had emerged victorious.
