The final match of the Ukrainian Cup featured two of the most successful teams: "Shakhtar", with 15 cup titles, faced "Dynamo", which has won the trophy 13 times.

The teams were also competing for a spot in the Europa League qualification. "Dynamo", the current leader of the UPL, nearly secured a Champions League qualification, while "Shakhtar" risked dropping to the Conference League qualifiers if they lost.

How the Final Unfolded

  • The first significant chance came from "Shakhtar", as Pedro Henrique attempted a shot from outside the box after a corner, but it went wide. Shortly after, "Dynamo" responded with a chance of their own: Yarmolenko passed to Vanat, whose shot was blocked.
  • Despite "Shakhtar" controlling possession more (59%), "Dynamo" created more scoring opportunities.  On the 44th minute, the Kyiv side took the lead: Dubinchak crossed to Yarmolenko, who scored with a touch — 1:0.
  •  Shakhtar equalized in the 64th minute through Kauan Elias after a delivery from Alisson.
  • With the match ending in a 1:1 draw, the teams moved to extra time, but no winner was determined — penalties were required to decide the outcome.
  • The first penalty for "Shakhtar" could have been a mistake: Ruslan Neshcheret saved Elias's shot, but stepped off his line, allowing Kauan to convert successfully. However, Dynamo's Oleksandr Karavaev failed to score on the sixth attempt.
