According to Vihivskyi, the police arrived in response to a call about a domestic dispute. The suspect, attempting to escape, threw a grenade at the officers. The armed assailant was apprehended immediately.
Unfortunately, during medical assistance, Sergeant of Police Maxim Ryzhko, who had recently become a father, died from his injuries. Three of his colleagues are currently hospitalized.
Vihivskyi remarked: "For those who doubt the role of the police, consider who you would turn to for help if something similar happened to you or your loved ones?".
He also added that many people currently possess firearms in Ukraine, making it crucial to be prepared for any situation. "We always respond first to danger," emphasized the head of the National Police.
