A tragic event occurred in the Transcarpathia region, leading to the death of a young girl. An eight-year-old was playing near a site where a 60-year-old acquaintance of her family was pruning trees.

The suspect has been detained, as reported by the Transcarpathian police and local prosecutor's office.

The incident took place on January 5 in the village of Vinkove, part of the Mukachevo district. According to the investigation, the man was cutting trees near their home without ensuring the child's safety.

Sadly, a tree fell on the girl, causing injuries that led to her death before medical help could arrive. The doctors informed the authorities of the child's death.

"Initial information indicates that the suspect failed to take precautions to ensure the child's safety during the tree pruning process," the prosecutors stated.

The police have initiated two criminal proceedings: one for negligent homicide (part 1 of article 119 of the Criminal Code) and another for the failure of parents to fulfill their duties concerning child care (article 166).
