Belgium and Turkey have announced their participation in the international drone coalition supporting Ukraine, led by Latvia and the United Kingdom.
This information was confirmed by the Latvian Ministry of Defense following a summit focused on unmanned aerial vehicles.
According to Latvian officials, coalition members have committed to allocate at least 2.75 billion euros by 2025. These funds will be directed towards the procurement of drones and the support of Ukraine's defense forces.
As of the end of May this year, coalition countries have already contributed approximately 180 million euros to the common fund.
It is expected that these financial resources will be utilized for both centralized drone purchases and national-level support measures for Ukraine.
“The international drone coalition is becoming increasingly robust — we will be able to supply more drones to Ukraine while simultaneously strengthening the defense industries of Latvia, the EU, and NATO. Our strength lies in unity, and the addition of new allies to the coalition will enable us to provide Ukraine with the vital support needed to combat aggression,” stated Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds.
The Drone Coalition Allocated 20 Million Euros for UAV Procurement for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Drone Coalition has allocated 20 million euros for the procurement of tactical reconnaissance drones for Ukraine's defense forces.
During its first year of operation, the coalition raised 176 million euros for the common fund through contributions from participating countries.
This fund is used to organize tenders aimed at finding and implementing innovative technological solutions to gain an advantage on the battlefield.
The coalition has successfully conducted two international tenders. As a result of the first, five FPV drone suppliers will deliver 30,000 units of equipment to Ukraine within six months.
On September 18, it was announced that Ukrainian UAV manufacturers will be able to participate in tenders organized by the coalition within the framework of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
The “drone coalition” officially began operating on February 17 within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
