A new artistic mural has been created in the Bulgarian city of Varna to commemorate the Day of Courage and the Bulgarian Army.
This project resulted from a joint initiative by the organization "We Together", the construction corporation KUB, and the Ukrainian cuisine restaurant "Stefania".
According to KUB representatives, the mural was developed as part of an open event where everyone was invited to participate. Each participant had the chance to paint a section of the mural, making them feel part of this grand endeavor. Artists also conducted a painting workshop for all attendees.
The main work lasted nearly two weeks, using over 160 liters of paint. Local residents expressed gratitude to the organizers for beautifying the underpass. The artists stated that the mural not only enhances the city's aesthetics but also demonstrates the gratitude of the Ukrainian community for the support received during the war and illustrates the mutual respect between Ukrainians and Bulgarians.
"I always strive to integrate art into its environment. In this case, the mural combines cultural elements from both Ukraine and Bulgaria, creating a harmonious image," shares one of the authors, Odesa-based artist Georgiy Khazankin.
The project was funded by KUB, a corporation involved in large residential projects in Varna, and the organization "We Together", which supports Ukrainian refugees.
What is KUB?
