Details: "We will remain the strongest support for Ukraine in Europe, advocating for its freedom, sovereignty, and European future," emphasized Steinmeier.

"Today, as Putin's war against Ukraine rages on, and the United States exerts strong pressure on its European allies, Germany finds itself in a crucial position. Hence, I reach out to you, to your allies, not only with gratitude but also with a call for immediate action," he stressed.

"Germany has been called to act – and we have heard this call, we have understood the message," he added, addressing NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, assuring him that "you can count on us".

"We will continue to strengthen our armed forces – the Bundeswehr – and increase investments in our defense industry. We will diligently work towards fulfilling our commitments under NATO's regional plans," the German president concluded.
