Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent have agreed to commence work on a free trade zone during their meeting in Washington on April 23.

This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

"We appreciate the constructive dialogue between our technical teams and look forward to fruitful collaboration for the well-being of both the Ukrainian and American peoples," stated Denys Shmyhal.

The parties also discussed economic cooperation and the issue of financial aid to Ukraine for the year 2026.

"The Ukrainian government undoubtedly supports the establishment of an economic partnership agreement between the American and Ukrainian peoples, as well as the creation of a reconstruction investment fund."

"Our negotiating teams continue to actively work as outlined in the signed memorandum, and will report on progress by April 26 of this year," emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
