Direct quote: "We demand that President V. Zelensky personally present the Ukrainian peace plan and details of the negotiation process. Is the Minerals Agreement part of this plan? After all, he was the initiator of this initiative, proclaiming it as one of the key points of his resilience plan in the fall of 2024. How will this agreement contribute to peace and security?"
Details: Herashchenko expressed concern that Ukrainians learn about important issues from international media rather than from Ukrainian officials.
She also highlighted "leaks about the peace plan that, allegedly, the US proposed to Ukraine and Russia", which she considers to mean "not peace, but capitulation".
Direct quote: "Ukrainians should receive updates on the negotiation process not from international media but from Ukrainian authorities… People have the right to hear our peace strategy directly from the government".
More details: According to her, representatives of the government appointed by Zelensky to the negotiation group have been avoiding communication with Parliament, while Ministers Andriy Sybiha and Rustem Umerov are absent from scheduled sessions in Parliament, refusing to comment on the negotiation process and the Ukrainian plan.
Direct quote: "The Ukrainian government must inform the public about the situation with the Minerals Agreement. And, crucially, what our realistic plan is for achieving peace, strengthening the anti-Putin coalition, and maintaining support for Ukraine. The 'European Solidarity' faction demands a public meeting with President Zelensky, Ministers Sybiha and Umerov, who are directly involved in the negotiation process".
What preceded:
- Reports surfaced that the Trump administration provided Ukraine last week in Paris a one-page document presented as the "final proposal" from the US president regarding peace settlement. A source close to the Ukrainian government stated that Kyiv considers this proposal very biased towards Russia. "The proposal clearly outlines the tangible benefits for Russia, while only vaguely and generally describes what Ukraine would receive", – said a Ukrainian interlocutor to the publication.
- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyrydenko stated that Ukraine is ready to engage in peace talks, but will not capitulate.
