The Swedish government has expressed its willingness to contribute to the security of Ukraine and Europe after a peace agreement is reached.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced this on social media platform X, following a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris that included representatives from Ukraine and the USA.
«Today in Paris, we achieved significant progress as members of the Coalition of the Willing, Ukraine, and the United States met to discuss pathways for peace in Ukraine», he stated.
According to him, after a peace agreement is established, Sweden will provide Gripen fighters for aerial surveillance over Ukraine, resources for demining the Black Sea, and continue training Ukrainian military personnel.
«Of course, a necessary condition is the achievement of a peace agreement, clear rules for the application of multinational forces, and the approval of relevant decisions by parliament», he noted.
«Sweden is ready to contribute to peace in Europe», he added.
As a result of the meeting in Paris, leaders of the Coalition of the Willing, Ukraine, and the USA signed a joint statement titled «Reliable Security Guarantees for a Strong and Lasting Peace in Ukraine».
