During a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on October 6, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof announced new funding.

“Today, we declare that the Netherlands will contribute 55 million euros to the World Bank fund to support Ukraine’s recovery. Your struggle is our struggle. The future of Ukraine is also Europe’s future,” he stated.
Schoof emphasized that Europeans have recently recognized that “the Russian threat extends beyond just Ukraine.”

“Other European nations are facing Russian drones and fighters violating their airspace. We have been dealing with numerous hybrid threats for some time now. No one can argue that Russian aggression is not our concern,” the Prime Minister remarked.
He also noted that Kyiv is willing to share its experience in combating drones, highlighting the “unbreakable connection” between the countries.

“Ukraine deserves our unwavering support now and in the future. The Netherlands and its allies will always stand by your side. Ukrainians have the right to live in freedom and safety in a strong and independent Ukraine,” he emphasized.
Schoof added that all possible measures must be taken to achieve a just peace and called for continued pressure on Moscow, including new sanctions.

Since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the Netherlands has provided 20.6 billion euros in financial aid, of which 13.6 billion is military support.

On October 6, Dick Schoof arrived in the Ukrainian capital for an official visit and met with President Zelensky.
