The law titled «On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine to Strengthen the Powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office» has come into effect.

This was reported on the official publication of the Verkhovna Rada «Voice of Ukraine».

The Verkhovna Rada approved the bill initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky aimed at restoring the independence of the anti-corruption bodies.

On the same day, the President signed the respective law.

The amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code adopted by the parliament on July 22 posed potential risks to the effective functioning of Ukraine's anti-corruption infrastructure, particularly regarding the independence of NABU and SAP.

Following the adoption of the law concerning the powers of NABU and SAP, the «Servant of the People» party faction will enhance decision-making procedures; a working group is already in place.
