The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiha, along with ambassadors, visited the front-line positions in Zaporizhzhia and the Orekhiv district.

«The bravery of the people in Zaporizhzhia deserves our utmost respect. Despite the constant threat, the region continues to live, develop, and maintain its indomitable spirit,» emphasized Sybiha.

He informed that the diplomats witnessed buildings destroyed by Russian strikes, fortifications, a safe underground school, critical infrastructure facilities, and honored the memory of fallen Ukrainian heroes at the «Tree of Memory» memorial.

«Such visits provide a new understanding of how people live in Ukraine, what they go through, and their most urgent needs. They motivate diplomats to be more persuasive and achieve more tangible results,» wrote the Foreign Minister.

Sybiha reminded that tomorrow President Volodymyr Zelensky will open the 2025 Conference of Ukrainian Ambassadors titled «From the Strength of Diplomacy to the Diplomacy of Strength.»

«We look forward to continuing our fruitful work for the benefit of our country,» assured Sybiha.

The Foreign Minister also thanked Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia OVA, for his commitment and dedicated work during the visit.

As noted on the MFA website, Sybiha emphasized that such visits are crucial for Ukrainian diplomats and foreign officials, as it is in the front-line regions that not only Ukrainian soldiers and communities are tested but also the decisions of Ukraine's allies.

In this context, he mentioned the timeliness of decisions regarding additional defense support packages and their arrival at the front, as well as «sanction strikes» on the Russian economy and the urgency of recovery, reconstruction, and investments.

«The front is one of the metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of decisions and the performance of Ukrainian diplomacy as a whole, as well as that of individual ambassadors. The situation here is a true assessment of the diplomats' work results,» stated Sybiha.

During the visit, the diplomats toured the safe «Sich Collegium» - a unique underground school. The Minister informed about the agreement to facilitate the health recovery of children abroad. There are also plans to motivate talented youth and nurture a generation of victory. Diplomats are ready to help young people see the world and would like to see talented young specialists in the MFA in the future, as stated in the report.

It is noted that the heads of embassies received clear instructions on attracting additional international support for the region, further investments, foreign business, and establishing interregional partnerships between municipalities and cities. This includes the support of economic resilience and creating opportunities for people.

At the end of the trip, diplomats visited Khortytsia, where Sybiha honored the memory of historian Vyacheslav Zaytsev, head of the information and publishing department of the National Reserve «Khortytsia,» who was killed on the front in the fall of 2022.
