The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting in response to widespread Russian attacks on Ukraine.
The United States urged Russia to commence "good faith ceasefire negotiations," while France called for a condemnation of the escalating aggression, and China expressed "concern over mutual strikes" between Russia and Ukraine.
Ukraine urged the Security Council to utilize its powers to help end the war.
"This is not a trench war. This Russian conflict is fought in bedrooms, in kitchens, on playgrounds, in hospitals, and schools... This madness must stop," said Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN.
Acting US Ambassador to the UN stated that Russia must immediately start serious negotiations for peace and lasting stability.
"Russia is killing Ukrainian civilians when it should be doing the exact opposite — ending the war. Russia must halt the killings and destruction of homes, schools, and playgrounds," she stated.
She also called on China to stop exporting dual-use goods that aid Russia's military capabilities.
"We also condemn Iran for supplying Russia with 'Shahed' drones and missiles, as well as North Korea for providing ammunition and manpower," emphasized the American diplomat.
In response, China labeled such US allegations as "groundless" and expressed concern over the mutual strikes.
"China is deeply saddened and concerned about the continuation of large-scale drone and missile attacks by Russia and Ukraine against each other, leading to significant civilian casualties and infrastructure damage on both sides," said China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN.
France called on the UN Security Council members to condemn the escalation of aggression from Russia and its violations of international humanitarian law.
"Russia does not want peace. Just look at its actions to see that," said France's Permanent Representative to the UN.
