New Prosecutor General of Ukraine: Ruslan Kravchenko

The Verkhovna Rada approved Ruslan Kravchenko's appointment as the new prosecutor general of Ukraine. Learn more about his career and responsibilities.

The Verkhovna Rada has granted consent to President Volodymyr Zelensky to appoint Ruslan Kravchenko as the new prosecutor general of Ukraine.

 A total of 273 deputies supported Kravchenko's candidacy:

  • "Servant of the People" – 190;
  • "European Solidarity" – 0;
  • "Fatherland" – 17;
  • "Voice" – 0;
  • "Platform for Life and Peace" – 14;
  • "Restoration of Ukraine" – 12;
  • "Party "For the Future" – 12;
  • "Trust" – 18;
  • Independent deputies – 10.

Now, the president must sign the decree to appoint Kravchenko. He will officially take up the post of head of the OGP.

For reference: 35-year-old Ruslan Kravchenko hails from Severodonetsk in the Luhansk region. Since 2024, he has served as head of the State Tax Service.

He was also the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration from 2023 to 2024. He has been leading the Bucha District Prosecutor's Office since 2021.

Previously, he worked as a military prosecutor during the tenure of Anatoliy Matios. In 2019-2020, he applied for the position of SAP prosecutor and participated in the competition for the head of NABU. He was awarded the Order of Merit III class (August 23, 2022).

Kravchenko prosecuted the case in which former president Viktor Yanukovych was found guilty of treason and aiding in waging war.

During the interview for the NABU leadership position, questions were raised regarding his real estate, savings, and the political background of his relatives.
