Ukraine and the United States have reached an agreement on joint projects in the extraction and processing of graphite, lithium, and titanium, which will be implemented under the newly ratified American-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund.

This was announced by Ukraine's Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko, following a meeting with US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent.

Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that the selected areas are mutually beneficial for the development of partnership between the two countries. During the meeting, investment protection mechanisms necessary for the effective implementation of these projects were also discussed.

The first meeting of the Fund's Supervisory Board is scheduled for the end of July this year. This meeting will be a crucial moment for the full launch of the Fund's operational activities, as it will approve the relevant committees, procedures, and criteria for project selection for further funding.

Additionally, the Ukrainian side proposed to expand the Fund's investment mandate to support Ukrainian companies, particularly those in the defense industry. Yulia Svyrydenko noted that the American side responded positively to this initiative and showed openness to such collaboration.

Another important issue discussed during the meeting was the expansion of military risk insurance options. It was noted that American companies are willing to invest in Ukrainian projects but require appropriate guarantees to minimize potential risks associated with the war.

In May, Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko received a note from the Acting Chargé d'Affaires of the USA in Ukraine, Julia Davis, confirming the completion of procedures to activate the Fund.

On the night of May 1, Ukraine and the United States signed an agreement to establish a joint Investment Fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

On May 13, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law ratifying the agreement between the government of Ukraine and the USA to create the American-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund.
