Zelensky's statement: "This is a positive sign that the Russian side has finally started thinking about ending the conflict. The whole world has been waiting for this for a long time. The first step towards real peace is a ceasefire.

There is no justification for continuing violence for even a day. We hope that Russia will confirm its desire for a ceasefire – complete, lasting, and reliable, starting from tomorrow, May 12, and Ukraine is ready for negotiations."

Recall that in a statement on the night of May 11, Putin claimed to be inclined towards "direct negotiations" with Kyiv in Istanbul on Thursday, May 15.

According to the results of the May 10 summit, the "coalition of the determined" demands an unconditional ceasefire from the Russian Federation for 30 days starting from May 12.
