An important working meeting was held at the charity organization «Protez Foundation», focusing on pre-prosthetic training for veterans. Attendees included veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war with prosthetics, officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and medical service representatives.
The meeting began with an introduction to the work of the prosthetics center «Protez Foundation». Participants had the chance to witness the process of creating and adjusting prosthetics, as well as learn about the latest technologies used for rehabilitation.
"Pre-prosthetic training is one of the most critical phases in the prosthetic journey for medical professionals and psychologists,” noted the State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Inna Yashchuk.
The co-founder and president of the «Protez Foundation», Yuri Aroshidze, emphasized that there are currently over 2000 individuals on the waiting list for prosthetics. Thus, the main part of the meeting was dedicated to discussing a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation for patients post-amputation.
“We are grateful to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for their motivation regarding the rehabilitation of defenders, ensuring quality prosthetics. We want our military personnel to feel that everything here is for them, starting from pre-prosthetic training to the end of their recovery,” stressed Yuri Aroshidze.
Special attention during the meeting was given to the role of social workers in the physical and psychological rehabilitation process, as well as in helping veterans reintegrate into civilian life.
Modern approaches to treating chronic pain in servicemen suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) were also discussed. Experts shared experiences with innovative techniques that significantly improve patients' quality of life.
«I am extremely happy that almost 40 of our physical therapy specialists have been trained in the USA. They have learned some secrets of American physicians and gained valuable practical experience,» highlighted Inna Yashchuk.
Such meetings contribute to the development of an effective support system for veterans and ensure a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation and support for our defenders.
