Fox News mistakenly referred to Kyiv as a «Russian» city during the broadcast of Easter services.
A caption stating «Kyiv, Russia» appeared on air while services from Russia featuring Vladimir Putin were broadcast alongside the Easter service in Kyiv and events at the Vatican.
According to United24, the Ukrainian service was initially labeled with the correct caption «Kyiv, Ukraine». However, after a pause, the caption changed to «Kyiv, Russia».
The error was later corrected. The incorrect caption remained on air for about 20 minutes.
Response from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacted to the «Russian» Kyiv reference.
Spokesperson for the MFA of Ukraine, Georgiy Tikhiy, called for an apology regarding the incident.
«If this was a mistake and not a deliberate political statement, an apology should be issued, and an investigation should be conducted to determine who made the error,» he stated.
