Ukraine's Trade Dynamics: First Quarter Insights

A review of Ukraine's trade activities for the first quarter of 2025.

During the first quarter of 2025, Ukraine imported goods worth $18.5 billion, while exports totaled $9.9 billion.

This information was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

According to their data, the main countries exporting to Ukraine were: China with $3.9 billion, Poland with $1.7 billion, and Germany with $1.5 billion.

In terms of exports, Poland received the largest amount from Ukraine at $1.1 billion, followed by Italy at $680 million and Spain at $650 million.

Customs data indicates that 68% of the total imports in January-March 2025 comprised the following categories:

machines, equipment, and transport – $6.8 billion;

chemical products – $3.2 billion;

fuel and energy products – $2.5 billion.

The top exported goods from Ukraine included:

food products – $5.8 billion;

metals and metal products – $1.1 billion;

machines, equipment, and transport – $882 million.

It is worth noting that in 2024, Ukraine's trade turnover increased by 13% compared to 2023, reaching $112.3 billion (in 2023 it was $99.4 billion, and in 2022 it was $99.7 billion).

In January-February 2025, Ukraine imported goods worth $11.3 billion and exported $6.3 billion.
