The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to establish a new registration system for Starlink satellite terminals. From now on, only verified terminals will be permitted to operate in Ukraine, while all others will be disconnected. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced this.
"This initiative is a response to the Russian military's use of Starlink terminals. They utilize drones that are difficult to destroy. These drones fly at low altitudes and are controlled by operators in real-time," he stated.
According to him, the only effective solution is to implement a registration system for the terminals. This process is being carried out with the support of SpaceX.
"The registration for Ukrainians will be maximally simplified. Just one visit to the nearest administrative service center is required, and it is free of charge. Businesses will also have an easy way to verify terminals online through the Diia portal," the minister added.
Military personnel do not need to visit the administrative service center. They can utilize a special secure channel through DELTA.
"You do not need to register terminals with the military unit or share account data. Just add your terminal to the registration list to avoid blocking," the minister emphasized.
Detailed instructions for terminal registration will be provided soon.
Earlier, Mykhailo Fedorov stated that Starlink terminals in Ukraine must undergo additional authorization to continue operating. Elon Musk confirmed that SpaceX has taken measures against the unauthorized use of terminals.
