As part of the Tallinn mechanism, Italy has allocated 1 million euros to strengthen the Ukrainian cyberspace. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
"Italy has directed 1 million euros to enhance Ukraine's cybersecurity. About 900,000 euros will be spent on protecting the Ternopil region, while another 100,000 euros will support the Project Office of the Tallinn mechanism," the statement said.
The press service highlights that, thanks to cooperation with Italy, two cybersecurity projects will be implemented in the Ternopil region: infrastructure modernization (the region will receive modern networking and server equipment) and the establishment of a secure network (a network will be built using automated security tools, including EDR systems, and staff will be trained to respond quickly to complex threats).
Part of Italy's contribution will go to the work of the Project Office of the Tallinn mechanism. This will help attract even more international initiatives to protect the Ukrainian digital ecosystem. Additionally, funding will support the annual review of the national cybersecurity system by the National Coordination Center (NCC) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, allowing for a clear understanding of risks and their professional mitigation.
Italy joined the Tallinn mechanism in 2024. During the Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Rome in July 2025, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani signed a declaration of intent to develop long-term initiatives for enhancing cyber capabilities and strengthening Ukraine's digital infrastructure.
