In Wrocław, Poland, seven officials from the district communication department have been arrested on suspicion of corruption.

According to RMF FM, the investigation revealed that the arrested individuals received bribes in exchange for unlawful vehicle registrations, with at least a thousand cases identified.

The scheme operated for an extended period, involving registrations of vehicles without the required documentation and the legalization of vehicles that should not have been allowed on the road.

Investigators found that the officials accepted money and gifts, such as perfumes and other valuable items, for making illegal decisions.

Currently, the unlawful benefits obtained exceed 100,000 zlotys. Additionally, the officials took advantage of free services, including car repairs.

The investigation suggests that this corruption scheme provided a steady income for the arrested individuals, who face up to 10 years in prison.

The investigation is ongoing, with the possibility of further arrests.

The anti-corruption police unit is conducting the investigation under the supervision of the Lower Silesian branch of the National Prosecutor's Office.

It is worth noting that in the autumn, an embezzlement scheme involving fake donations for a parish was uncovered in Poland.

In July, at the request of the European Prosecutor's Office, the first arrest related to fraud in the distribution of EU-funded food for the needy took place in Poland.
