Details: The agency explained the methods employed by these criminals:

• First, they hack an account and extract the user's video messages;
• Next, they create a fake monologue where the hacked user supposedly asks for money;
• Finally, they send this forged video to the victim's friends and acquaintances.

To avoid falling victim to this scam, law enforcement advises verifying information if you receive such a suspicious video. Ask the acquaintance to message you through another messenger or call you. It’s also recommended to enable two-factor authentication to secure your account.
