In Ukraine, the Day of Military Counterintelligence of the SBU is celebrated.

This professional holiday was established in 1991 by a decree from then-President Leonid Kravchuk, marking the beginning of military counterintelligence operations in independent Ukraine. This department of the SBU is a functional unit of the Central Administration.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, congratulated military counterintelligence officers of the SBU on their professional holiday.

He stated, "On this day, we honor the military counterintelligence officers who neutralize enemy networks, expose spies, saboteurs, and traitors."

As Syrskyi emphasized, during the war for Ukraine's independence, the role of counterintelligence officers is exceptional, as they operate on the front lines of the “invisible front,” uncovering and neutralizing Russian intelligence networks in the rear.

"On this day, I bow my head in memory of every brave Ukrainian counterintelligence officer who laid down their life in the fight against the Russian empire of evil. A heartfelt thank you to our counterintelligence officers for every disrupted plan of the Russian agents and for saving the lives of Ukrainian citizens," noted the commander-in-chief.
