Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) is set to construct a new train station in Fastiv, Kyiv region. During the construction phase, passengers will be served in a temporary modular facility. This was announced by the city mayor, Mykhailo Netyazhuk, on Facebook.
It was highlighted that following a meeting of the emergency response team, led by the head of Ukrzaliznytsia, Oleksandr Pertzovsky, a decision has been made to fully dismantle the damaged structure and proceed with the construction of a new station. <…> A temporary modular structure is planned to be installed on the platform during the construction of the new station.
Netyazhuk also emphasized that the design for the new station will undergo public consultations, involving local residents.
Currently, the Fastiv station has resumed operations after a Russian bombardment on December 6. Rail workers are doing everything possible to ensure that connections to Kyiv are restored to normal by Monday. A tent has been set up on the platform for heating and passenger waiting areas.
It was reported that the railway infrastructure in Fastiv was severely damaged due to a massive strike by Russia on December 6.
Today, the chairman of Ukrzaliznytsia, Oleksandr Pertzovsky, confirmed that traffic through the Fastiv junction has been restored.
